Geography
Geography is currently taught through the school from Years 7 to 13. There are currently 3 O Level classes in both Year 10 and Year 11 and Geography is taught at both A and AS Levels.
A knowledge and appreciation of how people affect environments and vice versa seems essential in this modern world. Students will find that geography educates them about the real world and deals with contemporary issues which are highly relevant to them, and of course supports the students' work in other subject areas. The skills they develop in terms of research, use of the internet, essay writing, project preparation and class discussion are of increasing relevance to the workplace.
Geography graduates do not just teach. An analysis of the destinations of geography graduates shows a wide range of employment taken up; planning and government, environmental management, in commercial employment, accountancy, local government, Geographical information systems and IT, to name but a few.
