Sri Lankan Studies

Sinhala and Tamil are one of the second languages. We teach the languages from the primary level. Students could opt to offer Sinhala/Tamil as a second language for the G.C.E (London) O.L examination. Emphasis is on translation abilities from Sinhala/Tamil to English and English to Sinhala/Tamil.

  • To develop rapidly and fully the students ability to, read, write, speak and understand, and to be able to use Sinhala/Tamil in their day to day life.
  • To give the students access to Sinhala/Tamil literature.
  • To enhance his/her educational resources and widen his/her knowledge of the language.
  • To prepare them to face the exam and obtain good grades.
  • To provide an opportunity to learn their mother tongue, to appreciate the literary beauty and aesthetic values. To recognize their cultural and national identity
