DIGITAL ART COMPETITION RULES
- Years 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 students of International Schools of Colombo are entitled to participate. Any other school wishing to participate may also do so.
- All work must be done using a computer and a Digital Art or Computer Graphics package. All work must be saved in the program in which it was done.
- Art that has not been done on a computer will not be accepted.
- Only one exhibit will be accepted from each student.
- All exhibits have to be printed on A3 or A4 size paper. The backing or mounting of the printed exhibit can be any color paper, the spacing round it is up to each school's individual preference. Please make sure that the exhibit is not covered on any side by pieces of paper pasted over it.
- All exhibits have to be handed over in a ready-to-exhibit manner. For details please contact IT / Network Manager, Colombo International School, Colombo.
- All exhibits have to be entered into one of 3 entry levels: Junior (Year 5 & 6) (Age 9, 10, 11), Intermediate (Year 7, 8 and 9) (Age 11, 12, 13, 14) and Senior (Year 10, 11, 12 and 13) (Age 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19).
- All exhibits must include:
1. The full name of the student (example: Damian Samarasinghe)
2. The name of the Digital Art work (example: Kandy Town)
3. The name of the School (example: Colombo International School)
4. The branch (example: Colombo)
5. The entry level (example: Junior)
The full name of the student, the name of the Digital Art work, the name of the school, the branch and the entry level (Junior, Intermediate or Senior) must be neatly and clearly typed on a 4cm x 5cm white piece of paper and attached onto the FRONT bottom right hand corner of the border of the completed entry (see example below).

- Each exhibit has to be stored on a CD-R/RW and the CD-R/RW must be handed in with the print out. No diskettes or zips will be accepted. Exhibits without an accompanying CD-R/RW will not be accepted. Submitted CD-R/RW discs will not be returned. The exhibit must have a name. The exhibit file must be saved in the CD-R/RW using the name of the exhibit as the file name (for example if you named your exhibit "Kandy Town", you must save the file of the exhibit giving the name "kandytown") (The exhibit file name saved under any other name different from your exhibit name will not be viewed).
- The full name of the student, the name of the exhibit, the name of the school, the branch and the entry level must be clearly printed on the outside label of the CD-R/RW disc and must also be saved as a Microsoft Word document named ‘details’ within it (Files saved under any other name will not be viewed).
- A detailed description of the following must be saved as a Microsoft Word document named ‘description’ within the submitted CD-R/RW (Files saved under any other name will not be viewed).
- How the Digital Art work was created
- The software package and version used
- The computer used (Mac/PC)
- What inspired the student to create the exhibit
- No other information (other than that asked for) should be stored within the CD. Unmarked, unreadable, wrongly named files will be disqualified. Extra files will be disregarded.
- All Digital Art work handed in MUST BE ORIGINAL DIGITAL ART WORK created solely by the student. Any exhibit that is found not to be an original work of the student will be disqualified.
- The work must not include images of actual persons and companies or actual company logos or trademarks unless, written permission from the owners have been obtained for the use of these images. Work cannot be used to advertise specific companies or persons and no website information, addresses or phone numbers of persons or companies should be included in any work.
- All completed exhibits should be handed over on or before the 18th of January 2011. No late entries will be accepted.
- The Digital Art Participant Entry Form must also be completed, signed and handed in with each exhibit. An exhibit will not be accepted without an accompanying Digital Art Participant Entry Form.
(All 4 points above must be included or the exhibit will be disqualified.)
If the above details and requirements are missing the exhibit will not be accepted.
OTHER POINTS TO NOTE:
- The entries for display will be judged on technical aspects, creativeness, artistic attributes and originality of the work. Prizes for the most outstanding entry from each level (Junior, Intermediate and Senior) and other prizes and certificates for exceptional exhibits will be awarded.
- Entries from students of the participating institutions will be accepted on and until 18th January 2011 and judged by an international panel of judges associated with CLG USA. Schools should fill out the “DAAC 2011 - School entry form” indicating the total number of exhibits sent.
- The exhibition will be held at the Colombo International School auditorium from 10th March to 17th March 2011 and the winners will be announced prior to the commencement of the exhibition. The winning entries will be displayed in the USA.
- There is no limit on entries of exhibits per Institution. However only one exhibit per participant will be accepted.
- Please ensure that all participant exhibits meet the requirements listed herein and the exhibits accompany all requirements asked for herein including an electronic copy of the exhibit and Digital Art Participant Entry Form duly filled and signed by each participant and institution.
- Please make sure that the participant name, exhibit name and other details are correctly spelt and clearly written in the handed in:

If the names are unclear, unreadable, different or incorrectly spelt in any one of the above, the entry will be disqualified. The information should be either typed or written in block capitals.
