Although we were not able to celebrate together this year, CIS marked Sri Lanka’s Independence Day in style with an impressive assembly created by the Prefects’ Guild with the support of Mrs Bollegala and Mr Guruge. The event included interesting reflections on the meaning of independence, along with dance and drumming numbers, and an attractive display of ‘Proud to be Sri Lankan’, which we believe you can watch with pleasure.

We are very grateful for the work our students and staff put into this most inviting and commendable celebration: special thanks go to the event’s hosts, Daniil Kahandawa and Devmini Wimalasena; Mrs Wahab and Mr Oshanthaka for the coordination of the musical number; Dinushka Jayawickreme for the musical direction; Kisholi Mathiaparanam for her piano accompaniment; Mr Sadun for his beautiful set and of course, Mrs Bollegala and Mr Guruge, along with all the performers, for their contributions that led to such a wonderful commemoration of this special day.
