Profile

Colombo International School, Kandy was founded in 1998, in response to the growing demand for co-educational, English-medium, high-quality education within the Central Province.

Colombo International School Kandy is a branch of Colombo International School, one of the most prestigious international schools in Sri Lanka. The School currently has an enrolment of 700 students. The ethos and curriculum of CIS Kandy are identical to the main Colombo branch and students are prepared for Edexcel's IGCSE and A Level examinations.

A full range of subjects is offered and students have entered major universities in the UK, USA, Australia, Singapore, India and elsewhere.

Throughout its history, CIS has remained consistent in the style and philosophy of its educational delivery. It has always used a UK-style curriculum, which is closely based on that found in good British Independent Schools. This is true from the Playgroup right through to A Level. The ability to bring out the best in children and to cater to those with different needs, talents and backgrounds has always been a feature in the school.

CIS teachers are a stimulating blend of Sri Lankans and expatriates, some of whom remain at the school for many years.
