Please note the following points below put together by the Computer Literate Generation USA Digital Art & Animation/Digital Film Technical Team, so you will avoid losing points for yourself and your school and get as much points as you can to win.
DISQUALIFICATIONS/POINT DEDUCTIONS
Outside of the disc:Points will be deducted if:
- There is no First Name on the outside label/surface of the disc
- There is no Last Name on the outside label/surface of the disc
- There is no School Name and Branch Name (if there is a branch) on the outside label/surface of the disc
- There is no Exhibit Name on the outside label/surface of the disc
- There is no Category (Junior, Intermediate, Senior) on the outside label/surface of the disc
- Unreadable and untidily written names and information are on the outside label/surface of the disc
Inside of the disc: Points will be deducted if:
- There is no Description File inside the disc
- There is no Details File inside the disc
- The image is not saved in the Graphics application it was created in
- The image is saved in Microsoft Word
- There is text on the image such as participant name, class, age, school
- There is more than one image file
The Digital Art/Animation/Digital Film work: Points will be deducted if:
- Photograph of actual person or business is used in the exhibit without obtaining written permission from the owners of such copyrighted materials
- Actual product logos and trademarks and names are used in the exhibit without obtaining written permission from the owners of such copyrighted materials
- Actual Internet websites, emails, phone numbers, addresses and other information is used in the exhibit
- Exhibit advertises or promotes an actual establishment, institution, website, participant or other party
- Exhibit includes recognizable photograph of participant
HOW TO GET MORE POINTS
ORIGINALITY IS IMPORTANT
- Please note that we give awards for original works & ideas. Giving in images taken from the Internet and other copyrighted sources after doing only minor enhancements or changes to them will get your exhibit disqualified and will cost you and your school minus points. Such exhibits will not be sent for judging.
- If images you have not created are used then you must demonstrate that you have drastically altered them by the use of digital techniques and tools so that they have been transformed through your technical competence into unique works.
- If music is used in Animation or Digital Film, please note that you can only use one or two bars without infringing music copyright laws. If entire copyrighted songs are used without obtaining written permission from the copyright holder, the exhibit will be disqualified and will cost you and your school points. Such exhibits will not be sent for judging.
- Use names, photographs or details in your original advertisements that are not connected with copyrighted products or actual people or establishments
- Use digital tools effectively to create something unique
- Do your own text, graphics and clips used in your Animation and Digital Film exhibit
NEAT & COMPLETE WORK IS IMPORTANT
- Be neat and make sure your First Name, Last Name, Exhibit Name, School and Branch and Category are clearly written on the outside label/surface of the disc
- Make sure the spelling of your name & school is correct in all materials & forms handed in
- Complete your work. Do not give half done or incomplete work
- Give a detailed description and show that you thought about what you created and what steps you would take to create it
- Make sure the disc works before you give it in
- Make sure the files asked for are correctly named and saved in the disc
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
- Do not make your Animation longer than 1 minute or much shorter than 1 minute. Do not make your Digital Film longer than 5 minutes or much shorter than 5 minutes.
- Do not hand in your exhibit late
- Correctly fill all required forms
- If you fail to comply with the rules and regulations of the competition your work will not be judged.
