CIS Excels at COMUN

The Colombo Model United Nations (COMUN) conference was hosted online by the Overseas School of Colombo from the 4th – 6th March 2022.

This year’s conference was no exception with the numerous delegations vying for the most coveted awards.

The sixteen students representing CIS excelled during the conference, demonstrating the extent of their preparation and the depth of their knowledge. 

In General Assembly 3, two prestigious awards were presented to one student of CIS. Saarvesh Ravindran received the highly-sought-after Best Delegate Award and was also recognized as the Best Crisis Delegate.

In the African Union, Souriish Ravichandran obtained  the coveted Best Delegate Award.

In General Assembly 4, a young delegate, Akein Bandara, performed incredibly well and was the recipient of an Honorary Mention Award.

A number of students also contributed extensively to the successful administration of COMUN. Anushka De Silva was awarded a Higher Commendation in recognition of his invaluable efforts.

Furthermore, five CIS students were selected as office bearers of the COMUN 2022 Executive Committee. This is a fine achievement accomplished by the following students: Head of Community Service – Devin Wimalasena; Deputy Head of Community Service – Damsith Wimalasena; Deputy Head of Operations – Devmini Wimalasena; Deputy Heads of Administration – Devishka Chandrasekera and Ruqaiya Farook.
