At the recently concluded ‘B Division’ Inter-schools Basketball tournament, the CIS girls’ under 20 team emerged victorious beating HFC Jaffna
52 – 47.

CIS remained undefeated in the group stages with stellar performances against HFC Jaffna, Dharmasoka College and Lyceum International School Nugegoda, to secure a well-deserved berth in the Semi-Finals.

At the Semis, despite a tight first half, CIS defeated Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya (46 – 34) putting them in contention for the championship.

In the finals, the girls faced the formidable HFC Jaffna team once again for the title. Despite winning against them in the group stages, the team prepared for their toughest match yet. The first quarter came to a close in a tie with 12 points each. CIS gained a 7-point lead by halftime and managed to keep their nose in front in the 2nd half of the match and ultimately closed with a narrow 52-47 victory.

Amaya De Silva was named the Best Defensive Player and Raiyah Hamza was awarded the Most Valuable Player.
